A mixed use urban regeneration scheme in Bethnal Green with mixed tenure housing above new Business Units. The site occupies a whole block backing onto an elevated railway viaduct running along the northern site boundary. The flats are planned around two cores with flats facing onto Cudworth Street to the south and the bordering streets to the east and west. The affordable rented units have a high proportion of three and four bed family flats and maisonettes with smaller sized shared ownership and sale units. Circulation areas are sited facing onto the railway noise source, to the north, in order to create an acceptable noise environment within the flats. The project is designed to meet the London Mayor’s plan requirements of 10% on site renewable energy generation with roof mounted photo-voltaic and solar panels. Additional communal amenity space is provided at roof level accessible to all residents.
