An urban regeneration project in the centre of Croydon, in a run down area immediately adjoining the Town Centre Shopping Area. The site sits within a newly designated Conservation Area occupying a block of outdated industrial buildings adjacent to three locally listed buildings – a Baptist chapel, the Tamworth Arms and and a red brick Edwardian building housing a Medical Centre. The project responds to the differing contexts of each of its road frontages with appropriate scale and form, matching the symmetry of the adjacent period buildings whilst accommodating the more domestic scale of Tamworth Place. The proposal is for mixed tenure housing planned around two cores with roof top communal amenity areas and enclosures for solar panels. All flats have access to private amenity space in the form of balconies or terrace areas.
