The Rugby Club is a local youth and community centre funded by the Trustees of Rugby Public School. The centre was formerly housed in a post war building in Holland Park W11 which had become uneconomic to run and threatened the clubs future viability. As a result the Trustees decided that the facilities offered by the Club should be updated and expanded. They formed a Partnership with Network Housing Group to redevelop the site with new improved club facilities which included 29 affordable flats and houses to cross subsidise the new construction costs. The new club is housed on the ground and lower ground floors and includes a multi- purpose hall, cafe, offices meeting rooms, music room, gym and recreational facilities and bar area for adult members. The residential element is planned around a central courtyard with flats facing onto Walmer Road and 6 houses fronting onto Portland Road to the rear.
