Russells Wharf, Grand Union Canal

This mixed use scheme of 70 affordable flats, shops and facilities for the London Print Workshop, sits on the site of a former canalside Ice Factory. The original use, long abandoned was replaced by a small workspace operation in the subdivided, dilapidated buildings. The site has frontages onto the Grand Union Canal and the Harrow Road and the plan form addresses the street and canal frontage separated by a central courtyard / parking area. The robust brick structures utilising blue engineering and London stock bricks echo the canal infrastructure with deep projecting triangular roof forms re-enforcing its waterside location.
