Key Worker Housing, Kensal Green

A 90 room Key Worker housing scheme with accommodation designed for nurses from St Mary’s Hospital. The building straddles the Kensal Railway Tunnels on an elevated site overlooking Kensal Cemetery to the south. This project utilises modular construction with pre-fabricated modules erected on piled foundations with traditional brick and rendered elevations. The design adopts the form of two villas with paired double height windows at first and second floor levels beneath clerestorey glazing and deep projecting eaves. The villa elements are separated by tiers of semi-recessed metal balconies along the road frontage. The south elevation adopts a similar form with rooms enjoying commanding views over 70 acres of open aspect of the listed Kensal Green Cemetery.
